Battle of Gurye: Rebel Cavalry Crushes Royal Forces in Decisive Clash

Gurye, Korea – A brutal and protracted cavalry engagement today saw the rebel forces, led by Commander Kim, inflict a potentially crippling defeat upon the Royal Army near Gurye. The battle, which raged for nearly six hours, resulted in significant casualties on both sides, but ultimately solidified the rebels’ control over a strategically vital region and dealt a serious blow to King Jae-hyun’s authority.

Initial reports indicate the clash began shortly after noon, with the Royal Army, estimated to number around 300 men, attempting to dislodge the rebel position – a fortified farmhouse overlooking the key mountain pass leading to the coastal settlements. Commander Kim’s forces, numbering approximately 180, employed a highly aggressive, flanking maneuver, utilizing the rugged terrain to their advantage. Witnesses described a chaotic scene of charging horses, clashing steel, and desperate hand-to-hand combat.

“They came like a storm,” recounted Park, a local farmer who witnessed the battle from a nearby hillside. “The sound of the horses’ hooves, the screams… it was unlike anything I’ve ever heard. I saw young soldiers fall, both sides. It was truly terrible.”

The Royal Army’s initial attempts to break through the rebel lines were repeatedly repelled. According to intelligence sources, a critical turning point occurred when a daring raid by a small rebel detachment, led by Sergeant Lee, successfully disrupted the Royal cavalry’s supply lines, severely hampering their momentum. The resulting chaos allowed the rebels to launch a final, decisive assault, overwhelming the depleted Royal ranks.

King Jae-hyun, currently residing in the capital, has issued a brief statement condemning the “treachery” of Commander Kim and vowing to crush the rebellion. However, military analysts suggest the loss at Gurye, combined with recent supply shortages and growing dissent within the Royal ranks, could significantly undermine his ability to maintain control.

The immediate consequence of the battle is the complete occupation of Gurye by the rebel forces. They are now consolidating their position and preparing to push further south. The long-term implications of this event remain uncertain, but many believe it marks a significant shift in the balance of power within the Korean peninsula. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
