Initial reports indicate the incident began following a minor traffic violation and escalated rapidly, causing significant disruption to local businesses and a brief closure of Main Street.

The pursuit began around 7:15 PM when officers observed Mr. Harper’s vehicle, a vintage Ford Mustang, exceeding the posted speed limit on Main Street. According to police radio transmissions, the officer attempting to pull Mr. Harper over initially received no response. He then initiated a pursuit, which quickly became a high-speed chase weaving through the downtown area.
