Pigeon Decapitation Stuns Residents of Oakhaven – Investigation Underway

Oakhaven, Kansas – A shocking and unprecedented event unfolded earlier this afternoon in the quiet, normally unremarkable town of Oakhaven, Kansas, culminating in the televised decapitation of a pigeon by a rogue pig and a surprisingly agile snake. The incident, broadcast live on local channel KOTZ, has sent ripples of fear and disbelief through the community and triggered a full-scale investigation by local authorities.

The chaos began around 2:17 PM Central Time when Bartholomew “Bart” Higgins, a local farmer known for his eccentric livestock, released his prize-winning Berkshire pig, Percival, into the town square. Witnesses report Percival immediately set about systematically dismantling a collection of decorative bird feeders. Simultaneously, a large Eastern Diamondback Snake, identified as “Seraphina,” slithered out from beneath the steps of the Oakhaven Historical Society and began pursuing a flock of pigeons congregating around the square’s fountain.

“It was… surreal,” recounted Mildred Abernathy, owner of Abernathy’s Bakery and a longtime Oakhaven resident. “One minute, I was frosting a lemon meringue pie, the next I was watching a pig and a snake go at it. And then… well, you saw.”

The broadcast, initially intended as a promotional event for Higgins’ upcoming pig auction, quickly devolved into a brutal, and highly publicized, spectacle. Security footage – surprisingly clear despite the frantic movements of the animals – shows Percival cornering a pigeon, identified as “Pip,” and, with a surprisingly coordinated effort, delivering a swift, decisive decapitation. Seraphina then expertly seized Pip’s head and, with a flick of her tail, deposited it on the head of a nearby statue of Oakhaven’s founder, Silas Blackwood.

Sheriff Brody Miller confirmed that both animals are currently in custody at the Oakhaven County Animal Shelter. “We’ve never dealt with anything like this,” he stated during a press conference this afternoon. “We’re working to determine the motivation behind this… unusual display of animal behavior. Mr. Higgins claims he simply wanted to ‘liven things up’ around here.”

The incident has already sparked debate about animal rights and the potential dangers of unregulated livestock practices. Local ornithologist, Dr. Evelyn Reed, commented, “While animal behavior can be unpredictable, this level of coordinated aggression is frankly alarming. We need to understand what triggered this.”

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities exploring possible links to recent reports of erratic animal behavior in the surrounding counties. The fate of Pip, Percival, and Seraphina remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: Oakhaven, Kansas, will never be quite the same.
