Local Woman Hospitalized After Alleged Demonic Possession in Rural Massachusetts

Plymouth County, MA – Authorities are investigating a violent incident in the town of Haverhill, Massachusetts, involving a local woman, identified as Bathsheba Smyth, 32, who is currently receiving treatment at Plymouth General Hospital. Initial reports suggest Ms. Smyth was subjected to a prolonged and aggressive demonic possession, culminating in a brutal attack on her husband, Daniel Smyth, 35.

The incident unfolded late last night at the Smyth residence, a modest farmhouse just outside of town. According to preliminary police statements, Mr. Smyth contacted the Warren County Sheriff’s Department after discovering his wife unconscious and severely injured. Upon arrival, deputies reported finding Mr. Smyth suffering from multiple lacerations and broken bones, while Ms. Smyth exhibited erratic behavior and reportedly spoke in a guttural, unfamiliar tongue.

“It was…horrifying,” stated Deputy Sheriff Thomas Miller, who was first on the scene. “She was thrashing, screaming, and her eyes…they weren’t hers. There was this…darkness in them. It was like looking into a void.”

Witnesses, including neighbors who heard the commotion, described a terrifying scene. “I heard shouting, then this awful screeching sound,” said Martha Peterson, a neighbor who lives across the street. “I peeked through my curtains and saw Daniel trying to restrain her. She was…moving in ways no human should.”

The Warren County Sheriff’s Department has contacted Ed Warren, a respected paranormal investigator and consultant to the Rhode Island Historical Society, who arrived on the scene shortly after the initial report. Mr. Warren, known for his expertise in demonic possession cases, immediately suspected a supernatural influence. He secured the property and initiated a series of protective rituals.

“This isn’t a simple assault,” Warren stated during a brief interview with reporters. “The level of aggression, the sheer force involved…it points to something far more sinister. We’re dealing with a significant, potentially malevolent entity.”

As of this morning, Ms. Smyth remains under observation. Doctors are cautiously optimistic about her recovery, but her prognosis is uncertain. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are appealing to the public for any information related to the event. The Warren County Sheriff’s Department has established a temporary command center at the local community center, and a team of investigators is currently examining the scene for any potential evidence of occult activity.
